April 25, 2014 (Lydia--Farmer's market...PETUNIAS! Enjoyed looking at things. She touched and felt and smelled many things. We would like to have lamb's ear. She remarked that the begonia leaves felt "waxy." I told her that sometimes they are called "wax begonias." She found 2 different types of fern fronds on the ground. She noticed the dots on the back and I told her that there were spores in there and spores were kind of like seeds. We watched this VERY interesting video and l learned a lot, myself! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4YtOT0Z6Ek )

May 4, 2014 (Lydia --Dilara picked her first radish from the garden, several spears of asparagus, and we harvested 2 lettuce plants by cutting the top off. We hope a new plant will grow up to extend the harvest. White liquid oozed from the base of the plant were we cut it and she tasted it and it was bitter. The lettuce wasn't too bitter, though. I cooked the asparagus after breaking it into pieces, sliced the radish, and chopped the lettuce and I mixed it all up with almond oil, salt, and juice from half a lemon. She noticed that the leftover dressing in the bottom of the bowl had a reddish tint to it and thought it must have been from the radish, since that was the only thing that was red that we put into the salad.)
